New and confused.

Well first off, I'm currently f2p, but if I end up enjoying this game I will be switching over to p2p. I'm really new, like as in only a few days.

What is mostly confusing me so far is the class roles in PvM. Most of them are clear cut, but others seem to be something other then what I was thinking then when I read about them.

I've read on most of the classes at their respective class forums, but most of the topics deal with either increasing DPS or PvP. I'm only really interested in PvM at this point.

Does that mean every class to some extent is basicaly just for DPS?

I admit I could be reading into things wrong or not looking at the right posts.

I did some searches in the forums for support based classes, found one topic, and even it devolved into who does the most DPS after a while.

Basically, I don't care how well something can solo or how much dps it does or how easy it is or how expensive it is to build, I have just really been looking for a support type class (non-healer or I would have gone Eni already), and most of the information I have found has not been helpfull in deciding.
